Demonstrations at Lehigh University – Day 3
For the third day in a row, the Goodman Campus at Lehigh University resounded with the powerful, melodious chants of 300 Shugden practitioners who were determined that the Dalai Lama receive their message.
As one great, compassionate voice they implored him to stop lying about his official ban on the worship of wisdom Buddha Dorje Shugden, and to practice equanimity by providing religious freedom for every Buddhist.
It was wonderful to see Western practitioners from around the world joining with Tibetans living in the United States, Canada and the Tibet-in-exile lands in India as one joyful and harmonious spiritual family. During break times, new and special friendships were formed. Sharing stories, we rejoiced in our common devotion to the pure teachings of Guru Tsongkhapa, and delighted in our cultural and spiritual differences. Then, when the time came to sing our message again to the press and public, with English and Tibetan chants that reached everyone’s hearts as well as their ears, Western Shugden Society members told the truth that must be heard:
Many thousands of Buddhists around the world are continuing to suffer emotionally, spiritually and materially due to the inhumane policies and programs of the Dalai Lama.
Signs waved, bodies swayed, colorful flags snapped in the summer breeze, and the mantra ‘Dalai Lama, Stop Lying’ carried far enough for him to hear it directly as he left the rear entrance of the arena at the end of the afternoon. A Western Shugden Society member politely offered him our booklet as he approached his car, but he refused it.
Lobsang Nyendag (the Dalia Lama’s new representative), and authors Robert Thurman, Jeffery Hopkins and hundreds of others received the WSS booklet into their hands and learned the truth. Although Campus restrictions made it difficult to distribute our literature to people attending the teachings, the power and passion of our chanted message spoke volumes ….. Dalai Lama, Stop Lying. Dalai Lama, Give Religious Freedom. Dalai Lama, Dzuin mah she. Dalai Lama Choe deh rang wang te.
