Australia Protests - Sydney Olympic Park - Day 4

The last day of protests in Australia saw even more demonstrators join in to voice their compassionate concern for the people suffering at the hands of the Dalai Lama. Their pure intention was evident by the joyful and passionate nature of their chanting. All along the line of protestors you could see in their faces the heartfelt nature of their request: Dalai Lama Stop Lying.

By day 4 the chanting had found a blissful rhythm that even passing observers couldn’t help but enjoy.

More importantly, though, it was clear that the protestors’ message was being received by the people of Australia. Thousands of people attending the Dalai Lama’s teachings took copies of the booklet ‘The Tibetan Situation Today’ and spent time asking questions in an effort to understand the protestors’ concerns. Initially people were reluctant to believe that someone with the Dalai Lama’s reputation could possibly be responsible for such gross human rights abuses. But, more often than not, their demeanour would change as they listened to accounts of what was happening behind this deceptive façade.

In fact, even some of the most vociferous opponents – including a group of Tibetan counter protestors – were quickly won over by the sincerity and kindness of the protestors.

On the last day of protests in Australia, the message that the Dalai Lama needs to be held accountable for his actions reached an even greater audience – aside from thousands of football spectators who streamed past the protest on their way to the big Sunday afternoon match in the stadium opposite, the message was also heard by hundreds of thousands of people throughout Australia on the highly respected current affairs programme, Sunday.

Following the protest, the many people who had travelled from all over the world to voice their concerns headed home uplifted and empowered by their efforts to protect the pure lineage of Je Tsongkhapa.

Meanwhile, the Dalai Lama headed to Perth on the other side of Australia where he would have been greeted by another timely radio interview with a WSS representative. There can now be no doubt in the Dalai Lama’s mind that he will be followed wherever he goes until he finally responds to the requests of Shugden practitioners from around the world and delivers religious freedom.
